Ovolo continues to evolve Canberra’s style swagger with its occupancy of the former Hotel-Hotel in New Acton. We thought the boutique hotel had it all. Views across Lake Burley Griffin, vintage furnishings and a noteworthy restaurant. But turns out there was room to grow.

Ovolo Nishi has taken over yet continues to play by the Molonglo Group play book following in suit of the cultural aesthetic and high-end vision of the design-driven hotel collective.

For the average local, the biggest change will be the shift in space and furnishings in the entertaining spaces. Encapsulating Ovolo’s effortless living ethos the ground floor has been divided into two approachable entertaining areas. The Monster Lounge is where all the fun will start among a new defined high top-bar seating and lounge areas. Bar service and bar snacks will now take place here under an iconic Nishi fern garden.

Monster Salon has undergone an extension and taken on a more ambient and relaxed atmosphere. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will now be served surrounded by Murano glass, fireplace and views of Parliament House. As for the food you can expect in these newly revamped spaces, the much-loved Monster Kitchen and Bar has undergone revitalisation under the helm of Daniel Flatt. A menu showcasing the Monster classics as well as new culinary experiences sure to leave a mark on your taste buds.

For the modern traveller, or those who enjoy a sneaky stay-cation Ovolo brings a new wing which will be ready second quarter 2019. The development of 17 x new rooms by Luchetti Krelle, includes 16 snug rooms, which have a more accessible price point and one larger suite with a balcony.

The evolution aligns with the hotel’s instagramable nature – be sure you have full battery before visiting Ovolo Nishi.
