The 2014 Myer Face of Canberra Racing was announced at the Black Opal Preview Day on Sunday 23 February at Thoroughbred Park.

The morning started off with a nice cool breeze and just the right amount of sun, providing the perfect start to what was a huge day of preparation and a whole lot of nerves for the final 17 ladies.

Thoroughbred Park was buzzing with race-goers for the Black Opal Preview Race – setting the scene for the ladies for whom some were experiencing a whole new world that they were itching to be a part of.

Emily Dibden won the competition and will be the Myer face of Canberra Racing for the next 12 months, appearing in advertising campaigns for the racing club and taking on the role as the ambassador for all fashion-related activities on course.

Emily took home over $15,000 worth of cash and prizes and her first role as the Face will be judging the Myer Fashions on the Field competition at the Seppelt Black Opal Stakes on Sunday 9 March.

As with both the heats, the contestants were immaculately dressed in their finest race wear. This time we saw some very innovative handmade headwear and hand-designed frocks, which was a great insight to each contestant and her styling abilities.

Meanwhile, the winner of the OutInCanberra Favourite Face public vote was Mikayla Thomas! She received a wild-card entry into the final and will take part in a photoshoot with the style team at OutInCanberra and for 12 months will receive a series of tickets and invitations to exclusive events.

Thank you to everyone who voted and participated in these great competitions. We hope to see you all back next year!
