I’m sure that you’ve seen them on the shelves of your local Bottle-O, but it’s about time that you find our where your favourite Canberra drop comes from. Here are five sure fire wins for an Autumn cellar door tasting in the Canberra region.


Shaw Vineyard
34 Isabel Dr, Murrumbateman

Truly a family affair, Shaw Vineyard has been a family practice for just over 25 years. With a selection of locally sourced jams, spreads and accompaniments at their cellar door, Shaw is a great place to visit and is worth the drive to taste their amazing produce. If you feel like sticking around for lunch or dinner make sure you drop into their restaurant, Flint at Shaw Vineyard.

Recommendation: 2014 Riesling Isabella, Reserve

Lerida Estate
85 Endeavour St, Red Hill

Designed by one of Australia’s prized architects, Glenn Murcutt, Lerida Estate is physically appealing, but the wine inside is even better. Open throughout the week, Lerida Estate welcomes all Canberrans out to try their produce. Furthermore, they offer Wine Tasting Packages to suit your budget, to give you a greater understanding of the story behind every drop.

Recommendation: 2015 Pinot Rose

Mount Majura
88, Lime Kiln Rd, Majura

Mount Majura vineyard is perched on the eastern slopes of Mount Majura, characterised by their red volcanic soils. It is a unique site producing single-vineyard wines of real character – definitely a must visit this Autumn. If you do make the trip, try out the Gumboot tour and take your wine adventure past the cellar door.

Four Winds

With a love of good wine and wood fired pizza, why wouldn’t you want to visit Four Winds at their cellar door? Relax this weekend with friends and family over a glass of Four Winds finest cool-climate drop – but if you want to bring more than 15, you will need to book ahead, because it is a small venue.

Recommendation: 2013 Tom’s Block Shiraz

Clonakilla

Clonakilla Estate is definitely one of Canberra’s finest cool-climate wineries. With a plethora of awards under its belt and winemakers who have singlehandedly upheld the reputation of the vineyard since it’s establishment in 1971, Clonakilla is a must visit this Autumn.

Recommendation: 2014 Shiraz Viognier
