There’s now more than one reason to take the trip out to Googong, following the announcement of a new hotel. Googong Hotel will bring a dramatic architecturally designed pub, function and entertainment facility to the town and become a focal point of the upcoming Googong Town Centre.

While a development application is yet to be lodged for the $25 million dollar development, it is set to be a significant injection into Googong’s community. Seating over 700 people throughout the entire venue, the indoor and outdoor ground-level dining areas has capacity of 400, while the upstairs function room can sit up to 260.

Designed by May + Russell Architects, the hotel sits on the Googong Town Centre’s ‘Main Street’ Glenrock Drive and will overlook Bunyip Park and lake, with the exterior landscape trickling through the interior including significant greenery, light and timber ceilings.

Expected to open to the public in 2025, Googong property developers Peet Limited and Mirvac Group have partnered with the owners of the local Royal Hotel in Queanbeyan to bring the development to life.

“The Googong Hotel will be a significant facility for the town and a major draw-card for the region. The new hotel will bring a community feel, by becoming a go-to local eatery, as well as a live music venue which reflects the events culture of Googong,” says Googong Project Director, Malcolm Leslie.

“Our vision for the Googong Hotel is for it to become an integral part of the region, where patrons can come and enjoy the delicious food, drinks and entertainment, but also become a part of the social fabric of Googong,” says Royal Hotel Queanbeyan Owner, Anthony McDonald.

“We envision the new hotel will serve as an anchor for the Googong Town Centre, attracting visitors from the surrounding areas, who will all enjoy a vibrant experience when they visit the new hotel,” he says.

Along with the hotel, the town centre is planned to include two major supermarkets, a range of retail, restaurant and entertainment options, community centre, library, medical centre, petrol station, and fire station.
