Come along to Googong for a breathtaking spectacle as a flotilla of mythical beasts and fantasy favourites fill the sky on Sunday, August 13.

Now in its fourth year, Googong’s Flying High extravaganza is a tantalising visual feast of imported mega-kites, some up to 16 metres long (that’s the equivalent of a five-storey building!).

Many of the giant creations will be flying over the Canberra region for the first time. This year, giant green dragons George and Mildred have two little sprogs, the white rabbit has found a mate, and the Big Red Car will take off like Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

And, weather permitting, the iconic blue whale will be serenely riding the airwaves.

Hundreds of residents and visitors are expected to turn out for the stunning free spectacle. Bring a picnic, buy lunch from the barbecue, let the kids romp in the playground and enjoy the music as a DJ spins the soundtrack for the day.

Googong is a community that likes to have fun. It’s an imaginative place and Flying High is an annual event giving everyone the chance to experience that special brand of Googonian magic with family and friends.
