Taste buds throughout Canberra are gearing up for what promises to be a world-class epicurean experience at Local Liquor’s inaugural Food and Wine Showcase.
Held on Tuesday 3 December within the opulent surrounds of the Hyatt Hotel, this must-do event will allow you to sample food and wine from exhibitors ranging from world-renowned brands to boutique wineries and regional producers.
The event has been designed to showcase food and wine pairings and with international wine expert, George Samios, at the helm, both wine connoisseurs and novices alike can embark on a viticultural journey that fosters an appreciation of the differences in regional distinct wines and varietals from the gamut of labels on offer.
“We’ve got the ‘A-listers’ such as Penfolds, Wolf Blass, Rosemount and Wynns, as well as some international exhibitors from the USA and New Zealand showing what they do best,” says Michael Dickinson, Area Manager for Treasury Wines. “We’re also showcasing some of the smaller boutique wineries including Coldstream Hills, Baileys of Glenrowan and St Huberts,” he adds. “And one of our event highlights is the opportunity to sample wines not yet released outside of cellar doors, such as Devils Lair 9th Chamber, Matua Black Grape Society and Yellowglen Peacock Lane.”
Cheese is the quintessential accompaniment to good wine; and fromage lovers will not be disappointed with a sumptuous spread of artisan cheeses on display including French, Italian, Mediterranean and Middle Eastern soft cheeses.
Regional and local producers will also bring to the table some of the finest cured meats, smallgoods, olive oils, biscuits, salads, antipasto and other gourmet delicacies.
With lucky door prizes, a $25 entry fee that is redeemable on any purchase, and the opportunity to buy wine in bulk and have it delivered to your nearest Local Liquor retail outlet, this is an event not to be missed by anyone who appreciates good food and wine.
