The National Zoo & Aquarium’s new Tiger Territory precinct, including the extension of the zoo’s Adventure Trail, is now open to the public.

With the zoo’s motto in mind – “To inspire and assist in the conservation of the natural world through innovative and exciting educational experiences”, the National Zoo & Aquarium designed and constructed a uniquely styled tiger viewing location for visitors to enjoy.

When visiting Tiger Territory, three separate tiger enclosures surround you. The middle enclosure houses sisters, Mya and Melati and the outside enclosures are each home to brothers Ravi and Baru respectively.

Educational signs are displayed throughout Tiger Territory with the hopes of promoting awareness of the plight of tigers in the wild. The National Zoo & Aquarium is also excited to be celebrating the recent birth of ruffed lemur twins!

The birth of these lemurs is very exciting as the wild population of this critically endangered species has declined by 90% in the past three years alone. The National Zoo & Aquarium is thrilled to be able to boost the numbers of Ruffed Lemurs in captivity.
