Siren Bar and Restaurant played host to Heat 1 of the Myer Face of Canberra Racing competition last night. More than 20 ladies took to the catwalk looking every bit the part in their best race wear.

The girls were all very well put together. Not a hair out of place or a scuff on their shoe – making my judging duties alongside Laura Edwards, Fashion Writer at CityNews, Erin Barry, owner of Mudd Spa and current Face of Canberra Racing, Kate Goodwin quite hard.

As judges, we were looking for an overall package of poise, style and personality for a contestant to be one of our top eight finalists. All the girls got a big tick for their efforts on style from me! Each outfit followed a trend and was perfectly matched with accessories, makeup and hair.

Following the mini-runway show we combined our scores and discussed our notes before Briony Young, Marketing Manger of Thoroughbred Park, announced the eight finalists.

Well done to all the girls who attended last night, you all looked fantastic!

Heat 2 will be held at Siren Bar and Restaurant next Wednesday 12 February from 7.00pm. I hope to see you there, cheering the ladies on!

Following the heats, the successful 16 will attend the final at the Black Opal Stakes Preview Day on Sunday 23 February for one last showcase of themselves and their style. The winner is announced later that day.

You can take part as well! Voting is now open for the OutInCanberra Favourite Face, where every entrant will be featured and in the running to win a wild-card place in the final! Click here to cast your vote!

Also, a huge thank you to Deejay Jukic owner of Alice Be Curious for styling me for the event!
