From a single burger joint in Braddon to a much-loved Canberra icon with venues now across the city, Grease Monkey is officially turning 10 and they’re celebrating the only way they know how to.
Opening back in 2015 on Lonsdale Street, Greasy’s quickly became a go-to for burgers, beers, and good times out with friends. Now with spots in Woden, Gungahlin, and a new Belconnen location on the way – Grease Monkey has firmly grounded itself in the capital’s food scene.
“When we fired up the grill back in 2015, we had no idea Grease Monkey would become such a big part of Canberra’s food scene,” the team says. “A decade on, we’re incredibly proud of the community that’s grown with us from Braddon to Woden, Gungahlin and soon Belconnen. This 10-year celebration is not just about looking back; it’s about keeping things real and accessible for our crew.”
To mark the milestone, the team is putting on a month-long party this June, and you’re all invited. On Sunday 29 June, they’ll be hosting a massive birthday bash at the OG Braddon location. Expect live music from 2pm, slushy machines pouring all day, a 2015 throwback playlist between sets, drink specials, and a menu packed with all your Greasy favourites. Whether you’ve been there since day one or you’re just discovering what all the fuss is about, it’s the perfect excuse to swing by and celebrate.
In the lead-up, Greasy’s is throwing it back with a new spin on their current Tightass Chewsdays deal – bringing back their 2015 pricing every Tuesday in June. That means original menu items like the Greasy, Dirty Bird, Nimbin and Double Deluxe are all on offer at their original prices, giving you the perfect reason to treat yourself midweek without the guilt.
And because cost-of-living is hitting everyone, they have also dropped a new Chimp Change menu, a budget-friendly lineup of value eats with everything $10 or under. Think cheeseburgers, hot dogs, a Threeway Cup of mac bites, onion rings and jalapeño poppers, plus chip cups and single chicken pieces.
“It’s about giving people options, especially now when everyone’s feeling the pinch,” the team says. “We want to make sure people can still come in, grab a feed, and have a good time without worrying about the cost.”
Whether you’re reliving the glory days or just discovering Grease Monkey for the first time, this month is all about celebrating ten years of Grease Monkey. Drop in, raise a glass (or a burger), and help celebrate a Canberra institution doing what they do best.
