Get ready for a switch-up in your late-night routine… Alinga Street’s Sydney Building is gearing up for a full-scale revamp!

Fun Time Pony is the first of three venues by Rabble Group (the hospitality visionaries who created our beloved People’s Pub, Assembly) set to hit the precinct.

Driven by an urge to redefine Canberra’s entertainment scene, Fun Time Pony has pulled out all the stops for its grand opening on November 17, with iconic Australian rock band, Spiderbait, taking the stage.

“Fun Time Pony is our answer to Canberra’s thirst for dynamic, unforgettable entertainment. We’re thrilled to launch this space that combines the best of live music, nostalgia, and late-night shenanigans,” says Founder of Rabble Group, Wes Heincke.

Famous for their confident and uncompromising stage presence, Spiderbait’s three founding members– Janet, Whitt and Kram – have made their mark as national treasures. After seven acclaimed albums and an eighth arriving in 2024, the band is a rite of passage for rock fans in every generation.

Step into Fun Time Pony and find not only a vibrant rock dance club but also the host of a diverse range of musicians and performers. They are prepared to change the way Canberrans experience live music, with a special spotlight on old-school jams and timeless classics.

Venture down the stairwell and discover a near-psychedelic experience. Lounge, dance and explore in the eclectic, subterranean hideaway, decorated in tiger-print carpet and zebra-print lounges.

The vibe is dark and untamed, the ideal setting for a grungy New York style pizza. Luckily, with a dumbwaiter installed to shoot pizzas from the restaurant above, you’ll be able to get cheesy slices on demand.

Rabble Group isn’t stopping there, with Bada Bing, a spacious split-level Italian Restaurant and Al’s Deli, a sandwich joint set to join the precinct shortly after.

Visit Fun Time Pony from Wednesday to Sunday, from 4pm until the early hours of the morning. And just in case you were wondering, yes, there will be a pony…

Don’t miss opening night on Friday 17 November! Doors open at 8pm, with Spiderbait headlining at 10pm. Tickets go on sale Monday 23 October, 9am.
