It is that time of year again, undoubtedly one of the most important reasons you’ll be throwing on a dress and heels all year. The Tara Costigan Foundation (TCF) Ball “The Angel Ball” is approaching its third year come Saturday, August 25 at QT Canberra.

An event which honours the memory of the Belle of the Ball – Tara, but also celebrates the strength of domestic violence sufferers and raises vital funds for the domino affect the epidemic has on families.

A sit-down dinner and pre-emptive too many drinks will make for an incredible party with a standout line-up of entertainment including BradBlaze the speed painter, Cartoons by Chris for those wanting a caricature of their frock and local talent Simon Anau featuring Small Town Funk. All the memories created will be captured by none other than Smashing Panda Photography.

From a horrific tragedy, TCF was formed which has led to years of local fundraisers, including anything from trivia nights to OzTag comps to Tara’s walk for change and Rock for Tara. However, the TCF ball has been the biggest contributor to funding Tara’s Angels service.

“The Tara Costigan Foundation provides post-crisis support to survivors of domestic violence who wish to move on with their lives positively and proactively. We assign survivors qualified, experienced and devoted social workers /caseworkers (Tara’s Angels), free of charge,” Samantha Costigan, Executive Officer of the Foundation explained.

Currently, there is a backlog of families in need of Tara’s Angels support and the foundation is hoping the 2018 Ball will be the biggest yet so the team can desperately bring on another Angel and reduce the wait list of people in dire need of help.

“Tara’s Angels provide up to two years of support to help navigate a complex web of services and overcome personal barriers. We aim to break the cycle of violence through holistic support, underpinned by a focus on practical, positive and lasting change in families and communities. ” Samantha said.

The event has been shown overwhelming love from locals, growing into a calendar-event not to be missed. Come and get dressed up with the Costigan family and most of all, show your compassion and ongoing support for Tara’s Angels with your attendance. Tickets are $250 per person, or $2000 for a table of 10 if you want to make a group booking for colleagues or an entire family.

With every sip of your drink and every move on the dance floor, you’ll be aiding victims to rebuild their lives either by finding their new homes and jobs, while getting kids back to being kids.

Remember to dress formal and all proceeds will go to Tara’s Angel Service.
