Flix in the Stix is a quality cultural entertainment event under a starry night sky in the gorgeous surrounds of the National Botanic Gardens!

Flix in the Stix is a unique night out with a short film, live music and some side-splitting comedy all thrown into a mixing pot and poured out! So far from past years it seems you Canberrans been pleased with the result so it’s back again, THIS SATURDAY with a fantastic line-up of music, people, food and drinks!

The Short Films will be curated this year by Julia Morris and two of the films to be played are PENNY DREADFUL – by US filmmaker Shane Atkinson and is about a kidnapping gone hilariously wrong and is the winner of over 25 international film festival Audience and Jury awards including LA Comedy Festival and the prestigious Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival. The second film was the Winner of Best Short Film at the prestigious Chicago Comedy Film Festival MINIMUS – which is the story of the weediest gladiator in the history of Rome. Directed by UK director Jonathan Hopkins, written by his brother, Cabell Hopkins and starring Adam Brown from THE HOBBIT trilogy.

A perfect fit for your listening pleasure, a mini concert will be played by local act WALLFLOWER who were the winners of the CommBank Boost-a-Band competition – they will be opening the night showcasing their winning talent! Closing the night is multiple Aria award winners, ESKIMO JOE!

This year the Flix in the Stix tour has been mixed up with a comedy component! THE AXIS OF AWESOME – The World’s Most Awesomest Comedy Band, according to reliable sources…. is a 3-piece band including people named Jordan, Benny and Lee. They are set to have you laughing your butt off with their mix of original comedy songs and pop parodies.

Chill out under the stars with friends and family on a night you’ll never forget.
