From being historically popular among the peasants to first on the guest list at any wine and cheese board night, Salami has come a long way (literally from Italy).  From rags to riches, no one has owned the Cinderella storyline quite like the delicious cold meat. The cured, smoked or dried meat works impeccably on a charcuterie board, we don’t deny that, but on National Salami Day (7 September) we decided to shine a spotlight on our favourite local salami pizza. Italian salami or American pepperoni? Most don’t know the difference, nor do they care, Salami has won over the world.
