Dan Sultan is something like Santa – much loved but rarely seen. This Thursday 27 February, his presence will be your present if you make your way down to Zierholz@UC for the return of one of Australia’s favourite singer-songwriters.
With the release of his latest single, Under Your Skin, Dan returns from a four-year recording hiatus. Clearly he was missed, as critics and fans alike have lapped up Dan’s latest sounds.
Fortunately for all concerned, this head-turning songwriter is about to hit the road again and let us all under his skin. Dan’s upcoming tour will be an opportunity to hear both new songs and old favourites, accompanied by his dynamic band.
North Queensland outfit The Medics will join Dan on Thursday. The band has received a significant amount of critical acclaim since forming in 2007, and as a result made the move to Brisbane in 2010 to broaden their horizons. Imagine their surprise then, when they were crowned Best New Talent at the 2013 Rolling Stone Awards!
Anyway, back to Dan.
There’s also a new album, Blackbird that is due for release on April 4. Anyone who has been to the major capitals over the last few weeks to take in the Springsteen tour would have heard a few of the new tracks as Dan gave them a test-drive during his support sets.
Plus, if you’re a true Dan Sultan fan, by pre-ordering a signed copy of the new album prior to Thursday’s gig, you’ll be invited to a meet and greet with the man himself prior to the show. Fantastic!
