It’s a bird, it’s a plane – nope it’s just Canberra Airports new Park in Pictures. Launching this weekend, Majura Park will see more action than it has in a while with limited flights in and outbound.

Covid-19 restrictions have been loosening across the board, yet cinema lovers had thus far been in the dark, forced to wait a little longer for movies to reopen. The maximum capacity for indoors has increased to 100 people though for cinemas opening for reduced numbers is not feasible. March 22 was the last time any of us got to see a movie on the big screen, until now!

The Park in Pictures are a post-pandemic positive, bringing Canberrans a socially distant way to enjoy a film. For those who have experienced a drive-in cinema before, no doubt nostalgia will be curiously creeping up on you to give this new venture a go. If you’re yet to experience to one expect the full drive-in experience, with food and drink on hand and audio via the car radio.

Across Friday and Saturday  two films will feature each evening. The early time slow is family friendly orientated with the later time tailored to adults. The opening weekend will see Hotel Transylvania 3 and Snatch play.

Viewers can bring their own snacks (no one can hear you chewing loud from the comfort of your car) or order Ms Ba Co on arrival. Over the weeks food will be available from Zambrero, Oporto and Subway.

The new entertainment comes as a collaboration with Canberra Airport and local video production team Screencraft in an effort for Canberrans to connect through film during these difficult times.

Opens Friday 19 June until 25 July.
