If you’ve been searching for a smarter way to feel better, there’s a new wellness destination in town that promises just that.

Opening its doors in Deakin this Saturday 19 July, SiSU Canberra is the city’s first science-led wellness studio, combining Pilates, psychology and cold therapy under one roof for a truly holistic approach to health.

Founded by lifelong friends and business partners Lia McInnis and Camille Bateman, SiSU is all about evidence-based wellbeing, offering services designed to support both your body and nervous system.

Here, you’ll find everything from reformer and mat Pilates, yoga and 24/7 PODs (Pilates on Demand) to infrared saunas, ice baths, sensory reduction pods, and next-generation massage chairs. What truly sets SiSU apart is its integrated psychological support, with individual therapy, couples counselling and small group programs available onsite, all delivered by highly experienced clinicians.

The studio also adopts a fully trauma-informed approach, with instructors trained to create classes that regulate the nervous system and shift the body out of chronic stress. Special programs for frontline workers and veterans include service-dog-friendly classes and tailored therapy partnerships with insurers such as Comcare.

Co-founder Lia McInnis, a practicing psychologist for over 20 years, says SiSU is built on the belief that true wellbeing requires supporting both the mind and body.

“The name SiSU comes from a Finnish word meaning strength, grit and determination in the face of challenge,” she says. “It’s a fitting name for a space designed to help people grow, reset and thrive.”

Alongside its premium classes, SiSU will soon launch SiSU Reset, Canberra’s first dedicated nervous system reset program, aimed at those experiencing anxiety, burnout or persistent exhaustion despite “doing all the right things.”

To celebrate its launch, SiSU Canberra is hosting a grand opening event on Saturday 19 July, featuring free classes from 8am to 4pm, contrast therapy experiences, free coffee and breakfast, and exclusive founding membership offers.

Whether you’re looking to move better, think clearer or simply reset, this innovative new studio is set to become Canberra’s go-to for science-backed wellness.
