Getting out in Canberra’s glorious wine region just became a lot more luxurious, with the launch of glamping getaway the Naked Cubby Collective.

Offering the first permanent glamping location in Canberra which showcases local design and produce, it’s the perfect place to unwind with the bare necessities – and award-winning grapes, gourmet food and a 5m bell tent on Mount Majura Vineyard.

The name, The Naked Cubby Collective, comes from the idea of stripping back, both literally and figuratively. With just a bed, books and board games, the one-night stays are designed for you to switch off, unwind and enjoy your natural surroundings. A place where you can hide away from the real world for a night, to disconnect from your reality and reconnect with the important things…like wine.

The 5m bell tent is on a custom built deck overlooking the vineyard. It’s made for long-term luxury, with floating floorboards, a vintage rug, a king bed and custom-made furniture from local designer, Curious Tales.

Guests have the option to select from two stays; The ‘Simple Stay’ and the ‘Schmick Stay’, with both featuring a king bed, luxury linen, solar-powered fridge and lights, the use of vineyard facilities, books, board games and a local breakfast hamper.

The ‘Schmick Stay’ also includes a bottle of Mount Majura Wine, selected by guests, and a gourmet picnic hamper provided by Schmicnics which is prepared by the chefs of the Boat House.

The idea came to a local couple, Erin Wilson and Daniel DiScipio, almost two years ago.

“Working in hospitality, we both grew a love for good food and wine. We also love exploring Canberra and surrounding areas, having found some beautiful accommodation options in the countryside and along the coast but never here. And each time we visited a vineyard, we kept thinking, imagine if only we could just stay right here?” Erin said.

“We approached Mount Majura Vineyard, who were really excited about the idea.”

The Naked Cubby’s first bell tent is located at Mount Majura Vineyard, with the proximity of the vineyard to Canberra city creating a backyard getaway experience.  You can immerse yourself in the wine region without forfeiting all of the creature comforts of home.

The Cubby is now open to the public – so get ready to strip down, be amongst nature and get back to what life’s really about!  Relaxation!
