Southsiders your time has come! You’ll now have one less reason to travel into the city to get your favourite local feed with South.Point Tuggeranong announcing their new multimillion-dollar dining and entertainment precinct will open at the end of the year.

‘The Point’, a redevelopment of the former courtyard area, between the entrances of Target and The Good Guys, is expected to open in December, bringing with it local favourites including Brodburger, Fricken Chicken, Phat Panda and Biteful Kebabs.

Designed to give everyone a place to eat, catch up and play, the family-friendly food hall will also introduce a mezzanine beer garden, undercover outdoor seating, two large screens, entertainment and a children’s playground.

Set to host live events, music and screenings of the big games all year round, The Point will also welcome entertainment brands such as Metaphysica Virtual Reality which offers a wide range of VR games and adventures.

Managing director of Leda Holdings (owner of South.Point), Robert Ell is excited to see the Centre continue to expand and give the community more unique dining and entertainment options.

“The Point addresses the ongoing evolution of the area and the need to meet the growing changes in the market. I’m confident that with the addition of The Point, we will continue to see the Centre serve as the heartbeat of the Tuggeranong Community,” says Rob.

Canberra’s beloved burger joint, Brodburger, is also excited about the new precinct, with co-owner Sacha Brodbeck getting ready to open a new store in Tuggeranong.

“Our ultra southside customers have been calling for this for so long now, so when we saw the opportunity to open at The Point, we knew we had to jump at it,” says Sacha.

“We really want this to be more than just a food venue. Our new concept Brodburger will have all the Brod favourites, as well as a few signature items only available at The Point.”

“We’re also going to be operating a bar – serving up an epic selection of local wines, beers and spirits. But even more exciting is our plans to host events, especially music gigs, in the precinct. It will be family-friendly good times during the day and early evening, and late-night vibes after dark. We want to get people excited to do something in Tuggeranong. It’s straight to The Point, baby,” she says.

Operating in the South Point courtyard since 2018, Phat Panda isn’t going anywhere, jumping at the chance to be a part of the redevelopment.

“As a longstanding retailer at South.Point, I am thrilled about the upcoming launch of The Point. This new precinct will bring together a vibrant gathering of local businesses, emphasising the importance of supporting the community. We believe this exciting addition to the Southside will energise and delight Tuggeranong residents, providing them with a new destination that truly enhances the local lifestyle,” says Owner, Luke Leung.

Construction is already well underway for the official launch in early December, with many events and activations set to mark the occasion.
