Sofia Polak collection launches

Canberra designer Sofia Polak has been creating glamorous custom garments for the past five years. Having previously styled Fashions On The Field judges and a Miss World Australia finalist, Sofia has now turned her sights to her first ready to wear collection, which launches this weekend at Fashion Exposed in Sydney.

This year she will also style the winner of the Myer Face of Canberra Racing, held at Thoroughbred Park, for the duration of their title.

Jil Hogan caught up with Sofia Polak on the eve of her collection launch.

There’s no stopping The McClymonts.

It’s been a busy year already for the trio originally from Grafton, NSW, having taken out Group of the Year for the fourth year running at the Australian Country Music Awards, taking their Golden Guitar tally to six.

The three sisters also scored the Aria for Best Country Album in late 2010 for their latest release, Wrapped Up Good.

For the past few years, The McClymonts have spent a large chunk of their time writing, recording and performing in the home of country music, Nashville.

As those who dine out in Canberra regularly will know, we have some pretty fabulous restaurants in this town. This has been further emphasised by the recent awarding of Australian Good Food and Travel Guide Chef Hats to seven local restaurants, including the recently rejuvenated artespresso in Kingston.

I have been a long-time fan of artespresso, and when news came my way that a new Hat had been awarded and that a fresh team of floor and kitchen staff had been appointed I wasted no time in checking things out.
