The Victoria Cross is awarded for only the most courageous and heroic acts of resilience in a time of war. So it’s only fitting that no expense would be spared on the memorial which honours the 98 Victoria Cross recipients.

The Hall of Valour at the Australian War Memorial reopened to the public in late February after a $4.5 million refurbishment.

The permanent exhibition houses 63 of the 98 Victoria Cross medals, teamed with photographs, citations and a number of artefacts which tell the stories of the VC medallists and the battles that they fought.

The dignified and engaging hall was officially opened by the Governor General and Prime Minister on February 21, and was toured by the three living VC recipients.

The Hall of Valour is now open at the Australian War Memorial. Visit www.awm.gov.au/ for opening hours.
