Event Recap – Maintaining the Rage with Frenzal Rhomb

So…apparently punk is not dead… at least not in Canberra.

The scene at UC’s Zierholz proved as much last Saturday night. As the rain fell hard and the idea of a fun night out seemed further and further out of reach. Instead, I found myself amongst the sea of unlikely revellers (I say unlikely due to Canberra’s tendency to avoid rainy nights out!) who turned up to the uni early, all keen to see veteran rockers Frenzal Rhomb return to the Territory and see how much they’ve aged.

Hundreds of stylish diners dressed in white are again preparing to descend on one of the capital’s most spectacular locations for an unforgettable evening of elegance, beauty and magic.

Le Dîner en Blanc – the French pop-up picnic that began in Paris 26 years ago – will take place in a secret Canberra location for the second time on Saturday 8 March.

Following on from the event’s debut success in 2013 – during which approximately 800 people dressed in white gathered in Canberra’s Peace Park – waiting list registrations for this memorable epicurean feast are now open.

Event Recap – Birds of Toyko at UC Refectory

Things were hot and heavy last Thursday at the UC refectory on the eve of Valentine’s Day. Australian rockers Birds of Tokyo burned up the stage in a night that left all in attendance smiling and sweating. The five-piece group from Western Australia have fallen under the ‘Independent Band’ title for a number of years. However, as recent as 12 months ago, the status and profile of Birds of Tokyo has skyrocketed them into the mainstream music scene.
