Shake it up with this year’s Art, Not Apart Festival! With a record number of project submissions, the 2017 program is set to be the biggest and best one yet. Held on 18 March, this one-day festival is dedicated to the arts; including exhibitions, performance art, numerous music stages, installations, strange interventions, street food, cafés and an awesome dance party. This year will mark the seventh instalment of Art, Not Apart, securing it as a major event the city’s colourful calendar of events.

The 2017 theme ‘Shake It Up’ highlights new and unique perspectives of art by challenging the status quo. The captivating program will showcase and the diverse nature of Canberra’s contemporary arts scene. Alongside a great art line-up, the festival will also showcase an array of local food and wine.


Sound good but not sure where to start? We got you! Start off your day at The Poet Tree for a poetry performance in front of NFSA and visit the NewActon and NFSA Courtyard to ‘shake it’ with music and dance installations that will have your feet moving.

After you are tired-out from the dancing have a bite to eat at the local food and wine stalls with street food style including local wineries.

Follow the day with a casual stroll down to The Artery on Edinburgh Avenue to get a glance at the unique contemporary street art that will have you looking at art from different angles.

But wait, the jam-packed day doesn’t end there; finish off the night with the awaited for after party, “F­_ck Art, Let’s Party” showcasing electronic dance segments that will have shaking it up until sunrise.
