For those looking to attend the National Dawn Service on Saturday, 25 April 2026, a nearby offering is open to all. Situated just 600 metres from the Australian War Memorial, Olims Bar & Bistro at the Mercure Canberra serves as a headquarters for commemoration, community, and the long-standing traditions of Anzac Day.

Should you be walking over from the ceremony or looking for a place to gather with friends and family, the venue offers solemnity in the morning and camaraderie of the afternoon in equal measure.

The Morning: A Proper Gunfire Breakfast

The day begins early at Olims, with doors and food stalls opening at 6:00 AM. Choose from a traditional morning meal at Olims Bar or opt for a full buffet breakfast at the Courtyard Restaurant. If you expect to be on the go and moving between services, the food stalls at the front of the hotel will be serving hot coffee, fresh pieces and rolls.

The venue will also be broadcasting the service live on the big screen in the beer garden.

As the clock strikes 12:00 PM, Olims is proud to host one of Canberra’s largest outdoor Two-Up competitions.

Held in the spacious beer garden, the ring runs until sundown. It’s a high-energy, “come-one-come-all” event where the stakes are for a good cause given all proceeds from the game are donated to charity. It’s a quintessential part of the day that brings together veterans, locals, and visitors in good spirit.
