Winter Wonderland returns to Haig Park Village Markets on Sunday 28 June, with plenty of ways to warm up a cold Canberra morning.
The Ultimate Winter Warmers
If there’s one thing guaranteed to get us out of bed on a freezing Sunday morning, it’s the promise of a steaming hot bowl of soup.
The much-loved Multicultural Soup Celebration is back, with local food vendors serving rich, warming stews and soups from all corners of the globe. It’s essentially a hug in a bowl, and the single best way to defrost your hands after trying to find a park anywhere near Lonsdale Street.
Alpacas, Snowmen, and Big Brass Bands
It’s not just about eating your weight in laksa and goulash. The park is going full winter festival with a lineup of free, family-friendly entertainment, including live brass and pipe bands, giant bubbles, lawn games, and face painting.
Plus, some of Canberra’s favourite furry and frosty faces will be roaming the pines. You can grab a selfie with Harry the Haig Park Snowman, or say hello to Hephner the Alpaca, or keep the kids busy making their own light-up lanterns to brighten up the winter afternoon.
Stall Hopping and Spiced Spirits
Once you’ve sorted lunch, there are more than 100 market stalls to explore under the trees. It’s the perfect excuse to pick up some hand-crocheted beanies, artisan candles, or local spiced spirits to keep your internal heating system running hot.
Grab your dog, throw on your thickest scarf, and embrace the chill. We’ll see you there.
