The Wineslinger Awards have revealed the Top 50 Venues for 2020, serving up the ultimate wine guru’s guide to the best haunts in Australia right now. Keep the list in your back pocket for when we can travel freely once again!
This year’s Top 50 only included one Canberra venue – Bar Rochford – down from three venues who made the list in 2019. Wineslinger is voted on by over 100 of the country’s leading sommeliers, winemakers, hospitality tastemakers and journalists. The people also get a say via The Wineslinger People’s Choice Awards, this year each entry will see a $1 donation in support of Tip Jar ( (hospitality relief fund) for every member of the public* that enters.
Impressively, Bar Rochford has cemented itself in the top 50 for three consecutive year’s. After showing resilience and fun innovations throughout Covid and hospitality closures, it’s no surprise to see Canberra’s leading wine bar make the cut for the awards that recognise creativity and industry excellence.
This year saw fierce competition from newcomers to the scene with 20 venues named in the top 50 for the first time.
From restaurants, bars and pubs, the wines in focus for these awards are ones that spark energy and adventure for their venues rather than a stale, formal approach to appreciating wine.
Everyone that votes in the ‘People’s Choice’ can go into the draw to win a host of amazing prizes including a Liebherr wine cabinet, a year’s supply of wine, and curated red and white wine packs from Henschke.
