Where better to sit back and take in the true beauty of Canberra than The Deck at Regatta Point. With commanding views that stretch from Mount Ainslie all the way around the Parliamentary Triangle to Commonwealth Avenue Bridge, it’s the perfect place to bring tourists or simply reacquaint yourself with the beauty of our city.

The menu is extensive, offering a range of familiar favourites combined with a modern twist. Open seven days and serving breakfast from 9.00am until 11.30am, and lunch from 12.00pm – 2.30pm, you’ve got ample opportunity to take advantage of the bright sun as it moves overhead during the first half of the day.

A great example of the ‘modern twist’ is the Eggs Benedict that are served with grilled ham hock. It adds an extra depth of flavour that ham simply can’t match, and is a great match to the tart flavours of the hollandaise.

Still, there is nothing like an absolute classic. When looking over the water on a sunny day, seafood is the perfect choice. At The Deck, the Calamari is crusted with semolina, tossed through rocket and served with aoli. The calamari is done the way it should be, however the addition of a hint of chilli livens up the palate without being overwhelming.

For those with a bigger appetite the Steak Sandwich is something to behold. Porterhouse steak is served on a slice of sourdough along with generous helpings of tomato, Swiss cheese and a garlic mayonnaise. Include the side of chips, and you’ve got a delicious combination sure to satisfy anyone. A lovely touch is the topping of sweet potato crisps that bring a crunchy texture to the plate.

With a wide range of wines including local options such as Lerida Estate and Eden Road, as well as Australian and international beers, The Deck is a great place just to relax in the sun and take in the fresh air and stunning views. Most guests find the warmth of the sun and relaxed, personal service too hard to leave, and perhaps order an extra coffee or glass of wine in order to soak up a few more rays. It’s a difficult strategy to argue with!

The Deck is a fabulous place for groups large and small. With a menu that is both approachable and delicious, as well as the capability to cater up to 100 guests without any problem at all, there is nothing the team at The Deck can’t provide.
