CARING FOR THIS SPACE: THE ROSES AT OLD PARLIAMENT HOUSE AND NATIONAL ROSE GARDENS

Come and smell the roses for a practical session around the lovely green spaces of Old Parliament House and the National Rose Gardens. Participants will learn valuable pruning techniques under the tutelage of our expert gardeners and discover the history of the gardens.

WHICH SPACES PREFERRED BY WHAT PLANTS NEAR THE WOODLAND WALK?

Join local botanist Isobel Crawford on the Black Mountain Woodland Trail to see which spaces are preferred by Brittle Gum, Apple Box, Broad Leaf Peppermint, Red Stringybark trees, False sarsaparilla, Bitterpeas, Parrot Peas and other treasured plants. Some books will be for sale.The Woodland Walk Flora Interpretation Signage project was supported with funding made available by the ACT Government under the ACT Heritage Grants Program.

Venue: At the Caswell Drive eastern car park on mountain side. Drive from Belconnen Way southwards along Caswell Drive towards Glenloch Interchange. Note the yellow diamond shape advisory sign showing access road on left, and the blue and white “P” sign for parking. Pull into the car park carefully. Look for banners.
