We are officially half way through ‘Wedding Season’. It’s a fantastic opportunity to dress your best and step out on a warm, summer’s day….and there’s always love in the air!
Here are some great tips to make sure you’re the best-dressed guest there – without taking the attention from the bride!
1. The number one rule is so obvious: DO NOT WEAR WHITE! Unless you have been specifically asked to to do this, it is never acceptable to wear the same colour as the bride!
2. Make sure your outfit is appropriate for the venue and weather. If the wedding is outside – and it’s warm – don’t wear a coat or jacket that is going to make you so hot that you can’t concentrate on the romantic vows.
3. When choosing your outfit for a wedding, opt for neutral (not white!) and/or pastel colours in the form of a flowing cocktail or long dress with soft fabrics. You will not only feel comfortable but very glam too.
4. Another no-no is wearing something too revealing. While this is a good rule for any occasion, at a wedding there is likely to be significantly younger and much older people than you attending who may feel uncomfortable. Anyway, showing too much skin at a formal occassion is just not a good look, full stop!
5. Keep your accessories minimal and steer clear of large, tacky and colourful pieces. Instead, accessorise your outfit with jewellery in gold, silver or black tones and finish off the look with a classy evening clutch bag.
6. Lastly, when it comes to chosing shoes it’s essential to assess the venue situation. If you need to walk across grass, rocks or sand for an outdoor ceremony, wear a pair of flats, sandals or wedges to avoid an embarrassing fall. Some wedding venues are very small and you may have to stand. Wear heels – but make sure they are no higher than medium and are comfortable to wear for an hour or so, Another great option to keep comfortable is to change shoes from the ceremony to the reception. Weddings are usually a big day and there is nothing worse than having sore feet just when the dancing begins!
