Hundreds of stylish diners dressed in white are again preparing to descend on one of the capital’s most spectacular locations for an unforgettable evening of elegance, beauty and magic.
Le Dîner en Blanc – the French pop-up picnic that began in Paris 26 years ago – will take place in a secret Canberra location for the second time on Saturday 8 March.
Following on from the event’s debut success in 2013 – during which approximately 800 people dressed in white gathered in Canberra’s Peace Park – waiting list registrations for this memorable epicurean feast are now open.
Those who attended the event in 2013 have already received their invitations to the 2014 Dîner en Blanc.
Dîner en Blanc participants are asked to dress elegantly in white, from head to toe, bring their own gourmet feasts, tables, chairs, fine china, silverware and a white tablecloth.
Over the course of the evening, the diners eat and celebrate amid music and dancing, complete with festive white balloons.
Visually breathtaking moments include the waving of a cloth napkin to mark the beginning of the dinner, as well as the lighting of sparklers to let participants know they are now free to circulate, mingle and dance.
When it is time to leave, guests pack up their crystal, dinnerware and tables, pick up their litter and head into the night, leaving behind no sign of their elegant revelry.
