The Brumbies hit Garema Place yesterday as part of the excitement leading up to this Friday’s big clash against The Waikato Chiefs at GIO Canberra Stadium.

At midday on Tuesday, Jesse Mogg and Pat McCabe joined the OutInCanberra team to giveaway 20 double passes to this week’s Super 15 Final replay. The boys encouraged Canberrans to pass footballs through the target in order to secure tickets to the match, and you can see some of the happy winners here.

This weekend’s match looks to be the biggest game of the year – especially in terms of bragging rights for Super 15 dominance – and The Brumbies are certainly keen to make up for The Brumbies’ heart-breaking loss to The Chiefs in Hamilton last year.

A quick look at the table shows both The Brumbies and The Chiefs on 25 points – six points behind the competition leaders, The Sharks. Last week, the Chiefs were narrowly defeated 17-18 in a bruising encounter with the Canterbury Crusaders – a team that seems to be finding form in the middle half of the season.

Meanwhile, The Brumbies had the luxury of a bye to recharge the batteries and get ready for this week’s match. It will be great to see the local lads hit the ground running on what promises to be a glorious afternoon in Canberra this ANZAC Day. There will be a reading of The Ode by Victoria Cross recipient Corporal Mark Donaldson, as well as The Last Post. For those keen for a punt before the game, two-up will be on before and after the match.

The Brumbies are also sporting a special strip for this week’s match that pays tribute to those who have served in the Australian Defence Force. Although SANZAR has ruled out the playing of Australian and New Zealand anthems for the match (reserving that privilege only for the test matches), you can be sure the Spirit of ANZAC, as well as the good old love/hate relationship with our friends across ‘the Ditch’ will be on display for all to see.
