You have to admire the popularity of Italian culture. Be it cars, coffee or Caravaggio, Italy has been the source of sensual style for centuries. What better way to celebrate then, than another edition of the Lavazza Italian Film Festival?

An event that is relatively new to Canberra, last year saw two editions of the festival come to Canberra. The first was a brief recap of the 2012 tour, appearing shortly after Palace Electric opened its doors in January 2013. The second one – this time last year – was much more in line with the national edition, and featured the full range of films available to Palace Cinemas other outlets.

Now it’s time to do it all again with the 2014 Lavazza Italian Film Festival!

For those who partook in the previous years’ presentations, you know what to expect: All the power, passion and personality for which the Italian are known, showcased across the festival will be 35 films to stimulate your senses.

It’s not too late to grab tickets to the opening night gala featuring the film Marina – a biopic of Italian singer Rocco Granata set in 1959 Calabria and featuring fantastic music (and a cameo by the now 79 year-old himself!).

There’ll be coffee popcorn, Connoisseur Gourmet Ice Cream and goodie bags as well. To get you in the right spirit, there’ll be Peroni beers and wines from Enoteca Sileno. Both before and after the movie, you can enjoy fantastic tunes from Alice Cottee’s Dollface and snacks from Hotel Hotel’s Monster Kitchen.

That’s just the first night for the three-week festival. Over the coming days there is an absolutely brilliant range of fine Italian film to ignite your passions and give you dreams of a Roman Holiday of your own.

We have a bunch of in-season double passes to giveaway! To enter, fill in the competition form and tell us which film you want to see and why.

You can check out the full programme at the official website . Be sure to organise your tickets now so you don’t miss out on the most exciting collection of cultural cinema in Canberra this year.
