The National Portrait Gallery summer show, Idle hours, is an exhibition of luxurious beauty. Paintings, prints and drawings represent subjects in quiet moods and situations arranged according to the time of day they depict – reading, drawing, snoozing, bathing, sewing, gardening, sitting, looking, making love and spending tranquil time with companions. Works in the exhibition range from the beginning of the twentieth century to the present.

In arts, Canberra exclusively hosted 2 highly sought after exhibitions ‘Vanity Fair Portraits: Photographs 1913–2008’ and ‘Masterpieces from Paris.’

In dining we saw Ellacure take out ‘OutInCanberra People’s Choice Best Restaurant 2009’ and Sub-Urban win Best Bar/Nightclub.

In style, Canberran born and CIT trained designer, Anthony Capon won the reality TV series, Project Runway – truly putting Canberra on the fashion map.

With more than 50 outlets in Australia, Crust Gourmet Pizza Bar have revolutionised the concept of ‘fast pizza’
