As local ladies put together the perfect race day outfit, blokes are scrolling through the tab.com.au race schedule to get hot tips for the race that stops the capital, the Black Opal Stakes.

Now in its 45th year of racing, the Group 3 Mercedes-Benz Canberra Black Opal Stakes will be off and racing at 11:30am Sunday 5 March 2017, ensuring a great line-up of action on and off the track.

Off the track, fashionistas will hit the runway for the annual Myer Fashions on the Field competition before heading on to the Food Alley for a number of delicious food and beverage offerings, including Lion Craft beer, $10 Red Bulls and a bevvy of race-day cocktails.

To ensure that this unique Sunday session is complete, Big Boss Groove will also be performing live – not to mention an on-site jumping castle to keep the kids occupied.

On the track, the eight-race program will not only include the famous Canberra Cup but will also feature the $275,000 Mercedes-Benz Canberra Black Opal Stakes, the $200,000 tab.com.au Canberra Cup, $125,000 National Sprint and the $125,000 Canberra Guineas.

With a month to go until the Black Opal Stakes, it’s the prime time to buy your tickets! The price for entry will be posted at $15 until 12 February before being lifted to the second stage of ticketing at $20 until the end of the month.

If you want to add a little luxury to your race day experience secure your spot at the Solerno Stalls Marquee. This is Thoroughbred Park’s latest hospitality offering for the Mercedes-Benz Canberra Black Opal Stakes Day and is located next to the horse walk and horse stalls, giving you an exclusive track-side picnic area with views from the 300m mark.

To complete this luxurious package, the marquee will also offer a delicious buffet menu, private cash bar, DJ beats, as well as TAB and bookie facilities.
