Northbourne Avenue has been revitalised following the arrival of Treehouse Bar last year.

There are so many reasons to play in the Treehouse. Pop in for lunch or after-work drinks from Wednesday onwards, then on weekends take your party up a notch with their signature cocktails and late night menu.

The downstairs bar offers a relaxed style with a DJ booth, dance floor and high stools. For a night of indulgence, head to the upstairs bar which has a lounge feel with more cosy seating areas and intimate lighting.

The menu is a combination of reinvented familiar favourites with delicious burgers, ‘Dogs and a few ‘special’ treats to tickle your taste buds.

Try the Ginger Tiger Prawns drizzled in white wine and garnished with thinly sliced shallots. It’s a tasty entrée or ‘first course’ and the mixture of flavours will have you wanting to lick the sizzling pot this dish is served in.

Deciding between the ‘Dogs and burgers is tough – especially with so many innovative and mouthwatering choices on the menu. We suggest giving the Lentil Burger some (if not all!) your attention. The peanut sauce compliments the lentils, tomato, rocket, alfalfa and avocado salsa so well as to have you almost asking if it’s some sort of ‘secret recipe’.

The Lamb Burger is light but doesn’t lack any flavour. True to its usual combination of cucumber, spiced coleslaw and mint yoghurt, you may need a few napkins to make it through to the end. If you’re among friends, let nothing go to waste and just lick the sauce from your fingers. You’ll want too!

The ‘Dogs are a real treat! As a gourmet version of the classic Hot Dog it makes for the perfect playful meal. The Beef Dog with chilli beans, chilli sauce, cheddar and corn chips will catch your attention on both taste and looks. Be careful though, true to its name, this Dog is HOT!

For a finishing cocktail we suggest the Charlie Chaplin. A balance of Hayman’s Sloe Gin, Apricot Brandy and fresh lime juice, there is a sweet-yet-sour flavour that makse for a fabulous liquid dessert.

All burgers and dogs are served with hand cut potato chips and a very ‘more-ish’ aioli. Much like the rest of Treehouse, they are fun and playful and form part of the bar’s broader experience.

So what are you waiting for? Climb on up into the Treehouse and see for yourself.
