Since winning the John Butler Seed Fund grant in 2006, Melbourne singer/songwriter Cilla Jane has gone on to build her profile around the country, having shared the stage with The Audreys, Kate Miller-Heidke, Tim Freedman, Brian Kennedy and Luka Bloom.

In May, Jane released her second album, ‘Until Morning Comes’, an offering she describes as “eclectic pop.”

For first single, ‘Into The Woods’, a haunting combination of strings, piano and vocals, Jane has been working with animator Adam Phillips to create an animated flim clip.

“He has won a few awards for his animation so I was excited to be working with him. He actually used to work for Disney.”

“The process is very, very slow with lots of drawings and extremely time consuming, so I just let him do his thing. Luckily we were both on the same wavelength.”

Jane is currently taking her intimate live show to the eastern capitals, and is excited about getting out of the studio and onto the road.

“I love the final result of recording – it feels amazing. I do find the recording process a little bit stressful, whereas touring around can be really enjoyable and stress-free.

“It’s nice to connect with an audience, so it’s good to get out and finally play the shows!”
