The historic The Lobby Restaurant will be revitalised this Autumn as part of a larger project in prominent Canberra location, King George Terrace in the Parliamentary Zone.

In consultation with the National Capital Authority (NCA), The Lawns of The Lobby will be designed as a flagship dining and multi-purpose events precinct while protecting and conserving the rich history of The Lobby and the Commonwealth heritage-listed landscape.

Three distinct food and beverage concepts will make up the precinct, including fine dining and grab-and-go options.

Local marketing agency, The Mark Agency (TMA), has been entrusted as The Lawns of The Lobby place-makers with plans to bring vitality back to the area.

“If you talk to most Canberrans they have a fond memory or two and some sort of connection to The Lobby. That gives me a deep sense of pride, but also a great responsibility to deliver a concept that not only celebrates The Lobby’s rich history, but one that is meaningful to the next generation who, no doubt, will create memories here, too,” says TMA Director, Tristan Maddigan.

“We’ve handpicked the best-in-game food and beverage operators, designers, and place makers to deliver a concept that is fitting for Australia’s National Triangle,” Maddigan adds.

“We are eager to see the revitalisation of this iconic location and trust that the plans of The Mark Agency will inject a new vibrancy to a place that is part of so many people’s cherished memories,” says Chief Executive of the NCA, Sally Barnes.

Collaborations in the entertainment space are also expected within the precinct with hopes to bring live music, festivals, showcases, markets and movie screenings to the Capital.

“We’re not just introducing a lively food and dining precinct to the National Triangle; we’re also inviting back a calendar of events that will be supported by the amenity offered by The Lawns of The Lobby. We’re looking forward to seeing the gardens come to life with weddings, corporate events, and a range of events that will be presented by The Lawns of the Lobby year-round,” says Maddigan.

The Lawns of The Lobby will open from 8am until late, 7 days a week. Announcements about the dining concepts are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
