Whilst for many an ideal weekend involves a glass in hand on a beautiful day, very few are likely to have contemplated having sticky grapes between their toes. The Canberra District Stomp Festival is offering exactly that. Running across the weekend of April 18–19, 2026, the festival celebrates the heart of the region’s harvest, inviting you to step behind the cellar door and into the winemaker’s boots.

You are encouraged to choose your own adventure, from high energy stomping barrels at Mount Majura to guided tastings in Murrumbateman.

Mount Majura: The Heart of the Stomp

Mount Majura Vineyard will be partaking in the celebration running multiple stomping barrel sessions on Saturday, April 18.

Challenge your friends to extract as much juice as possible in the stomping barrels. Sessions will run at 11:00am, 12:30pm, and 2:00pm.

For a less hands-on (or feet-on rather) option, the vineyard will also be running Museum Masterclasses for guided tastings at 10:30am, 12:00pm or 1:30pm to compare rare back-vintages with current releases.

The atmosphere will be augmented by live music from Josh Maynard, 1-4pm whilst a Brazilian barbecue will be put on from Brazbecue to enjoy while overlooking the vines.
