GIO are giving the ACT community the chance to support the Canberra Hospital Foundation, through the first annual Act for ACT campaign.

Canberrans have the opportunity to nominate someone they know for any act of bravery, generosity, kindness or leadership.

Maybe you know someone who volunteers their time to help community organisations? Or a parent who assists in coaching local kids’ sports teams? Now is your chance to recognise them for their efforts, while also supporting the Canberra Hospital Foundation.

Five deserving nominees will be awarded $5,000 each, with another $5,000 each donated to the Canberra Hospital Foundation in their name.

“The funding from this campaign will go a long way to supporting some of the area’s most at need at the hospital, and to improving comfort to patients and their families,” said the Canberra Hospital Foundation’s General Manager, Helen Falla.

Twenty finalists will be announced on Tuesday 5 December, after which the public will be able to vote for a winner for the Act for ACT People’s Choice Award.

A panel of judges will then select the other four major prize recipients, with all of the winners to be announced online by GIO on December 15.

“I’m honoured to be offering Canberra residents the opportunity to nominate someone they know who has helped to improve their local community,” said GIO Act for ACT Representative, Susie Walford.

“We’re looking forward to seeing some amazing Canberrans being recognised, while supporting the local Canberra Hospital.”

Nominations for the Act for ACT close on Monday 4 December. If you have someone in mind that you think would be perfect for a nomination, head to actforact.com.au.
