Father’s Day KiteFest at Googong
This Father’s Day, hundreds of kites are set to line the Googong sky to mark another year of KiteFest. The annual kite flying festival will return to Rockley Oval on Sunday 3 September, with thousands expected to descend on the township to celebrate the occasion.
Families and the wider community are invited to join in on the festivities and bring their own kites and picnic blankets for the event which attracts kite enthusiasts from across the region.
The day will feature a musical set from Runaround DJ’s Sue Freeman, whose shows have generated more than half a million views online. There will also be gourmet burgers and a beer stall for those looking for a bite to eat or drink.
KiteFest was first held in 2015 and has since become a staple on the Googong calendar. It sits alongside much-loved events including the Rural Fire Service Open Day, Christmas Carols and Markets, and Googfest, which will be held over the coming months.
