There is something about the earthy, punchy smell of fresh black truffle that feels made for a Canberra winter.

This July, Mercure Canberra is joining forces with Macenmist Black Truffles and Wines for an indulgent five-course dinner celebrating one of the region’s most prized seasonal ingredients.

The Menu

Across five courses, fresh local truffle will take centre stage. And it won’t be appearing as a final garnish, it will be woven throughout the degustation, with each dish designed to highlight its rich, distinctive flavour.

The menu will also be matched with wines from Mount Majura Vineyard and Long Rail Gully Wines, making it exactly the kind of dinner worth dressing up and braving the cold for.

The Team Behind the Truffles

Macenmist owner Barbara Hill will be there to share the story behind the farm and offer a glimpse into the process of growing, hunting and harvesting black truffles.

Guests will also have the chance to meet SongLu, Macenmist’s Lagotto Romagnolo truffle dog and one of the most important members of the team.

It’s not often you get to meet the talent responsible for finding your dinner.

Why It Works

Alongside five courses, matched wines and lucky door prizes, the night offers a closer look at one of the Canberra region’s boutique producers.

It strips away some of the formality of a traditional degustation, pairing local truffle and local wine with the stories behind how they’re made.

It’s a great way to spend a Saturday night without having to scramble for a park in Braddon or fight the crowds at the Kingston Foreshore.
