Kick off the racing season @ Thoroughbred Park

Kick off the 2011 racing season with MS Society Preview Day at Thoroughbred Park on Sunday 27th February.

With free admission and free parking, bring your picnic and enjoy an afternoon of racing.

If fashion is your thing, this is the perfect day out, with the Junior Fashions on the Field, as well as the parade of the Myer Face of Canberra Racing 2011 finalists.

Junior Fashions on the Field is judged in four categories:
– Girls 5-10
– Boys 5-10
– Girls 11-17
– Boys 11-17

Prizes include $125 plus a sash for 1st place, $50 for 2nd place and $25 for 3rd place.

Tropfest @ Commonwealth Park

The 19th annual Movie Extra Tropfest returns live via satellite to Commonwealth Park, on Sunday 20 February 2011 to the largest live audience outside Sydney.

As the world’s largest short film festival, Tropfest is recognised for its unique platforms for emerging filmmakers,
each year attracting over 600 entries.

In 2010 over 23,500 movie fans enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere of the Canberra screening, and this year’s crowd is expected to reach a record crowd of 25,000.

Courses for a Cause Recap

On Thursday 10th February, venues across Canberra served up their finest for a string of guests at Courses for a Cause 2011.

Hosted by OutInCanberra and The Mark Agency, the event raised cruicial funds for the recent floods in Queensland and Victoria.

The evening started with dinner, with guests scattered across town at some of Canberra’s top venues.

Seated at tables set to perfection with flower-filled gumboots as centrepiece, guests were served a delicious array of courses, washed down with Kamberra Wines and Chandon Champagne.
