Recap: Stafford Brothers @ Academy

Academy hosted one of the biggest acts in Australian house music, Stafford Brothers on Friday night. The Gold Coast siblings, Matt and Chris Stafford, have made a name for themselves DJing some of the biggest party destinations in the world. They even had their own reality TV show on Foxtel that captured their extensive tour around the northern hemisphere.

Though it was a world away from the sunny beaches of Ibiza and Mykonos, the Stafford Brothers brought the party to Canberra, a welcome distraction from the sub-zero temperature and blustery wind that continued outside.

Colonial Beef Steak Club @ Kingsleys Steak and Crabhouse

In the early 18th century, a number of Beef Steak Clubs began to spring up in London. They were part members’ club, part secret society with all being based around the wonder and marvel of beef steaks.

The most famous, The Sublime Society of Beef Steaks, was formed by John Rich, the harlequin and machinist at the Theatre Royal, Covent Garden. The club was frequented by actors, artists, men of wit and song, noblemen, royalty, statesmen, and great soldiers with entry requirements so stringent that even the Prince Regent (the future King George IV) was merely placed on the waiting list.
