June marks the start of winter in the capital and the Queen’s birthday long weekend, but for one iconic Canberra restaurant it’s their 20th birthday that has them kicking up their heels.

Our local hospitality industry can often be fickle, with new venues popping up and closing in what feels like the blink of an eye, making Antigo’s 20th birthday one of hard earned celebration and success.

Restaurant Manager, Bernadette Connors identifies the key to their success as consistent friendly and attentive service, coupled with a menu that’s wriggled its way onto the favourites list for many Canberrans.

“We’re known for our Cajun spiced calamari. Nowhere in Canberra does it like we do. It’s been on our menu for almost 20 years,” Bernadette said.

The team also make all their desserts home-made on premises, with ever-changing cake options.

“We’re also open until late Monday to Saturday so theatre goers can enjoy after show coffee and cake with us.”

Antigo also boasts an impressive cocktail menu so those inclined can enjoy a ‘cheeky one’ with dinner or after.

To celebrate 20 years of success Head Chef, Nick Corbett and his team have created a special birthday menu that’s available now.

“Nick’s travelled the world and recently returned from overseas so he’s always creating new dishes and coming up with new ideas. Having said this, we’ve kept all the Antigo favourites!”

The new menu features a 650gram rib eye fillet, that I’m assured is the largest in the city.
