There is a funky new café in town serving a mix of meals – including paleo, gluten-free and nitrate-free meat – made fresh every day using fresh produce to provide a feast your senses!

5 Senses Gourmet Bar – situated in the Tuggeranong Hyperdome – aims to be the spot to visit when you need a place to relax, have a coffee and read the newspaper. The ambience provides the perfect setting for you to do just that, indulge all five senses in one great place.

The open plan café is on the lower level of the centre hidden away from the hustle and bustle of the food court and main shopping precinct providing a real café feel and a place to have a break in your busy day. The interior décor provides calm atmosphere using the soft colours of aqua and brown to brighten up the space and compliment its fresh outlook.

The menu features an innovative list of meals such as Baked Eggs on Sourdough – which are a real treat. This dish comes in a ceramic pot baked with sautéed mushrooms, baby spinach and mozzarella cheese with a side of sourdough and roasted cherry tomatoes. It’s a fantastic savoury choice.

The sweet breakfasts also feature a different twist such as the House Waffles – presented on a large rectangle plate and still steaming from the saucepan. Sprinkled with baked ricotta and strawberries and finished with a drizzle of maple syrup, we are not surprised this meal is a favourite.

For lunch we recommend the Fajitas. You can choose either chicken or veal and both are served in a build-it-yourself way with caramelized onions, chives, sundried tomatoes, jalapenos and lime and the wrap on the side . A trio of dips and spreads (such as guacamole and sour cream) come separately so you may use as much or as little as your like.

The Veal Cutlet is a hearty choice, marinated with fresh herbs and served with a healthier eggplant mash and crispy sweet potatoes on the side. Another favourite is the fresh Seafood Salad with seared Atlantic salmon, squid and king prawns tossed through mesclun greens, baby beans and a dill infused lime dressing. It’s a light and fresh meal and would be great on a warm day.

Lastly if your belly can handle any more food – or you are just stopping in for a cake and coffee – the fridge along the marble bench is filled with freshly baked goodies each day, including both paleo and gluten-free varieties.

If you are in need of a catch up with friends, want to try a new place for lunch during the week or a love a delicious breaky in the sun on the weekend, 5 Senses Gourmet Bar will tickle your senses and provide a great experience that will have you coming back for more.
