There aren’t many community events that can boast more than a century of history, but the Queanbeyan Show has been part of the local calendar since the late 1800s.

Returning this Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 November for its 129th edition, the show blends traditional country show favourites with high-energy modern entertainment, bringing two days of animals, rides, live entertainment and arena action to the Queanbeyan Showground.

Country show meets big action

You’ll still find plenty of traditional show favourites across the grounds, including animals, pavilion displays, arts and crafts, showbags and rides.

But things get a little more high-octane in the arena, with the FX Freestyle Kings bringing high-flying motocross stunts to Queanbeyan for the first time, alongside the annual Brumby Challenge.

The DockDogs Australia National Titles are also returning, with dogs racing down the dock before launching themselves into the water to see who can jump the furthest. There’ll be action across both days, as well as the K9 SuperWall in the Main Arena on Saturday night.

The official opening ceremony will take place at 1pm on Saturday in the Icon Water Main Arena, led by guests of honour Charlotte Morphett and Chloe Stevenson.

Plenty of Family Fun

Elmo and Cookie Monster are making the trip from Sesame Street for the weekend, while Dinkum Dinosaurs will bring comedy, dancing dinosaurs and animatronic displays to the show.

Add in carnival rides, showbags, live music, duck racing, the always-competitive Man Cake Competition and plenty of animals to see, and there’s more than enough to keep the family busy across the weekend.

There’s also a new busking competition, with performers taking to stages around the grounds before the crowd favourites make their way to the Main Arena final.

And if you’re heading along on Saturday, stick around into the evening for the Icon Water Saturday Night Spectacular fireworks display.
