For what felt like forever, the Giralang shops were starting to feel like a Belconnen urban myth. A local legend whispered about for years, somewhere between the Canberra puma and tales of finding a painless park on Lonsdale Street on a Friday night.

But the wait is finally over. The long-awaited Giralang Shops precinct is finally up and running, and Hungry Beagle, one of its newest arrivals is giving locals a very good reason to stay close to home.

Carbs, Corks, and Canines

This isn’t some sterile, cookie-cutter suburban joint. The crew at Hungry Beagle have set up a space that feels warm, welcoming and easygoing.

The focus is simple: coffee by day, then pizza, pasta, and drinks by night. What else could you want?

In the morning, it’s the kind of place you can swing past to grab a strong flat white before heading off to your public service desk. But by night, the mood shifts into something more relaxed: think chewy pizzas straight from the oven, bowls of pasta, and a wine and cocktail list that practically begs you to settle in for a second glass.

Bring the Whole Pack

As the name suggests, four-legged locals are very, very welcome.

Hungry Beagle has indoor and outdoor seating, with dogs welcome outside, so you don’t need to leave your pup shivering at home.

It’s also perfect for the whole family, with an easygoing atmosphere where kids can get stuck into pizza while the grown-ups enjoy a drink and catch up on the local gossip.

With hot honey pizza, rigatoni alla vodka, miso carbonara, tiramisu and so much more to choose from, Giralang finally has its local back, and we couldn’t be happier.
