If your winter routine needs a quick shake-up, a drive past Lake George this weekend might be your best move.
This Saturday, 8 August, the team at Lerida Estate is hosting local craft spirit makers 7000 Islands for a one-day-only pop-up. It’s all part of the Canberra Wine Region’s annual Fireside Festival, that time of year when local wineries light up the fireplaces, pour great wine, and give us a genuine reason to head out into the cold. But this weekend, things are taking a bright and tropical turn.

Two Canberrans took ownership of 7000 Islands local ventures.
Run by two Canberra locals, 7000 Islands has built a solid following around town for bringing the vibrant, bold flavours of the Philippines and Southeast Asia into craft spirits. If you’ve bumped into them at local events, you already know their setup looks as good as it tastes.
The headline act for Saturday is their signature Ube Colada, a striking purple take on the classic Piña Colada made with Ube Cream Liqueur and their new Hotel Lobby Rum (which is mellowed through coconut shells for a ridiculously smooth finish). It’s essentially a little pocket of summer in the middle of an August road trip.

If coffee cocktails are more your speed, they’re also shaking up the Nusantara Brewtini, a rich, salty-sweet mix of Indonesian Arabica cold brew and Kanto Salted Caramel that would overshadow a standard pub espresso martini.
Add in Lerida’s lineup of cool-climate wines, a roaring fire, and seasonal plates from the winery café, and you’ve got an unbeatable Saturday drive sorted.
