The National Zoo & Aquarium has brought back ZooFest, giving families the perfect excuse to throw on a puffer jacket and get out of the house these school holidays.

Beats, Bounce, and Baby Dinosaurs

If you want to get the most out of your ticket, this weekend is a great time to go.

On Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 July, the zoo will have extra entertainment, including a jumping castle to help kids burn off some school holiday energy. On Saturday, local jazz outfit Blue Gumbo will also be playing live at the Viewing Park, bringing a little swing to your stroll around the zoo.

Keep your eyes peeled while you wander too, with roving entertainment and baby dinosaurs making their way through the zoo for photos.

Firepits and Fake Snow

The zoo has also set up cosy firepits at the Viewing Park (look for T2 on your map), where you can buy marshmallow roasting kits and hot chocolates, then settle in by the flames.

There will also be snow machines near the playground and waterfall, plus an outdoor cinema, giant lawn games and a silent disco for anyone keen to dance off the winter chill.

The Best Part? It’s Mostly Free

All ZooFest activities are included with standard zoo entry, and members can head in as usual. You’ll only need to pay extra for things like marshmallow kits, hot drinks and snacks.

So zip up your coat, grab a beanie and make a proper winter day of it.
