On Sunday, 10 May 2026, the Harmonie German Club will be putting an old-fashioned clank and bang medieval fight night for Steins & Steel.
Forget choreographed stage fights, this night will be an occasion for a high-impact night of authentic armored combat. Originating from the Old French word meaning “to wallop,” Buhurt is a full-contact sport where modern-day knights in historically accurate steel armor face off with blunt weapons. The goal is to be the last man or team standing.
The Clash of Champions
The Canberra Burly Griffins will be defending their home turf against a slate of fearsome interstate challengers. It is a sport built on teamwork, immense physical strength, and what the team describes as a healthy “desire for violence.”
The format of the fights will vary from tactical one on one duels to all action team bouts. The rules are simple, knock your opponent down or make them surrender. As soon as a dighter uses a third point of contact on the ground, like a knee or hand, they are eliminated.
The setting couldn’t be more appropriate. As the armored combatants battle each other in the ring, spectators can enjoy the atmosphere of the German Club with a refreshing imported German Bier in hand.
