Canberra after this weekend may be the healthiest city on Earth. Why? They say laughter is the best medicine and we have been royally treated to it in large doses. The Canberra Comedy Festival returned earlier this month for another edition of shows featuring some of Australia’s biggest names in the industry, taking place between March 11th and 22nd.
Since its birth during the city’s centenary in 2013, the festival has grown from a “commemorative pink t-shirt” idea into a powerhouse of the Australian comedy circuit. This year, the tradition continues with a lineup that proves Canberra is anything but boring.
A Legacy of Legends
The festival has spent over a decade bringing the world’s funniest humans to our doorstep. If you’ve missed previous years, you’ve missed sets from the likes of Hannah Gadsby, Kitty Flanagan, Tom Gleeson, Arj Barker, and the Umbilical Brothers.
The festival has set a guarantee of returning this year stronger than ever and the 2026 season has shown itself to be the biggest yet, featuring a mix of international heavyweights and home-grown heroes who know exactly how to roast our beloved “Bush Capital.”
Whether you’re into sharp political satire, absurd physical comedy, or just a good old-fashioned storytelling session, there is a show for everyone.
